SLO County Democratic Party Endorses Jim Dantona for County Supervisor

SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA – Jim Dantona, President and CEO of the San Luis Obispo Chamber of Commerce, today announced the SLO County Democratic Party had endorsed his campaign for Second District County Supervisor.

The endorsement highlights Dantona’s commitment to pragmatic problem-solving and a forward-looking agenda focused on preserving the region’s quality of life, expanding head-of-household jobs, and improving affordability for working families.

“Jim Dantona is the kind of local leader who listens first and gets things done,” said Johnathan Lau, chair of the SLO County Democratic Party’s Endorsement Committee.

“From tackling housing affordability and supporting small businesses to protecting our coastline from Big Oil, Jim’s priorities align with the values of San Luis Obispo County residents. We’re proud to endorse him for Supervisor,” Lau said.

Dantona, a member of the Cayucos Citizens Advisory Council, expressed gratitude for the endorsement, emphasizing his campaign’s focus on practical solutions and community-driven progress.

“I’m honored to earn the endorsement of the San Luis Obispo County Democratic Party,” said Dantona. “Our campaign is about building attainable housing near jobs and transit, supporting local small businesses, expanding career pathways, and protecting our special places and environment that makes SLO County the place we love.

"Together, we can protect our values and our way of life, and keep our economy strong.”

The endorsement adds to the growing momentum behind Dantona’s campaign, which has already earned support from outgoing Second District Supervisor Bruce Gibson, Congressman Salud Carbajal (D-Central Coast), and numerous community leaders throughout SLO County. Dantona’s broad coalition includes community leaders, workers, and neighborhood advocates united around a vision for responsive local government and balanced growth.

Dantona lives in Cayucos and has served as President / CEO of the SLO Chamber of Commerce for the last seven years. His position as a small business advocate has given him keen insight into the nexus between quality of life and economic stability.

San Luis Obispo County's Second Supervisorial District encompasses Morro Bay, Cayucos, Cambria, Los Osos, San Simeon and a portion of the City of San Luis Obispo.
