Congressman Jimmy Panetta Endorses Jim Dantona for County Supervisor
SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA – Jim Dantona, President and CEO of the San Luis Obispo Chamber of Commerce, today announced that Congressman Jimmy Panetta (D-CA) has endorsed Dantona's campaign for Second District County Supervisor. Panetta's 19th Congressional District covers northern San Luis Obispo County, including San Simeon and Cambria in the Second Supervisorial District.
"I endorse Jim Dantona to be the next supervisor for San Luis Obispo County. His extensive work in the public and private sectors give him the foundation to balance, advocate, and fight for the diverse interests of the central coast of California,” said Rep. Panetta. “Jim has the personality and professional experience to get stuff done, but also to fight back to protect and promote our values and the people of our county."
Dantona is running to succeed Supervisor Bruce Gibson, who is retiring at the end of his term. Dantona's campaign has focused on protecting San Luis Obispo County’s way of life while ensuring that working families and future generations can afford to stay and succeed here.
“Congressman Panetta has been a tireless champion for our coast and our community’s values. Together, we can ensure San Luis Obispo County remains a model for sustainability, environmental stewardship, and economic opportunity for generations to come,” said Dantona. “I’m honored to have Congressman Panetta’s endorsement, and I look forward to working with him to uphold our Central Coast values."
The endorsement adds to the growing momentum behind Dantona’s campaign, which has already earned support from outgoing Second District Supervisor Bruce Gibson, Congressman Salud Carbajal (D-Central Coast), the San Luis Obispo County Democratic Party and numerous community leaders throughout SLO County. Dantona’s broad coalition includes community leaders, workers, and neighborhood advocates united around a vision for responsive local government and balanced growth.
Dantona is a member of the Cayucos Citizens' Advisory Council and has served as President / CEO of the SLO Chamber of Commerce for the last seven years. His position as a small business advocate has given him keen insight into the nexus between quality of life and economic stability.
San Luis Obispo County's Second Supervisorial District encompasses Morro Bay, Cayucos, Cambria, Los Osos, San Simeon and a portion of the City of San Luis Obispo.
