A Letter from Jim Dantona
Dear Neighbor,
I’m Jim Dantona and I’m running to represent the 2nd District on the San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors. I’m running for this seat because – when I look at the state of our democracy – I know SLO County must stick up for itself and stand against Washington’s unreasonable, needlessly harmful, often cruel policies and actions that hurt us all.
Together, we can and must develop a clear vision of what we want to achieve here in our County – one grounded in our Constitution, driven by optimism, and rooted in the belief that we are capable of building a better community for next generations.
We live in a community blessed with natural beauty, a rich history, and incredible human potential. The challenges we face – whether they be threats to our environment, the high cost of living, or economic uncertainty – are real. But with smart planning and bold, local leadership, we can ensure that we protect the coastline and open spaces we cherish, cultivating an economy that works for everyone, and ensuring the next generations can afford to live and thrive in the place where they were raised.
My mothers-in-law, Betsey Nash and Marci Powers, shared this community with me some 20 years ago, and I immediately embraced the culture and vitality of the people. The genuine goodness of our community shines through in our love of the natural environment, the arts and culture, and our passion for standing up for what’s right.
I was raised in a family that instilled a deep belief in public service, and I’ve spent the better part of a decade serving this community. I’ve seen what happens when Central Coast residents come together with purpose, creativity and a refusal to settle for “good enough.” Government - when done right - can help and protect the people. That’s the spirit I’ll bring to the Board of Supervisors when I’m elected. Because the future isn’t something we wait for – it’s something we mold.
I hope you’ll join me in the fight for a cleaner, kinder, more prosperous SLO County.
With gratitude,
Jim Dantona
Candidate for SLO County Supervisor, District 2

Who Am I?
I was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley, went to high school in Simi Valley, and went on to receive my bachelor’s degree in government systems at Sacramento State University.
As a youth, my family instilled in me a deep belief in – and respect for – public service, doing the people’s business. My dad was a public servant for decades and always taught me that government – when done right – can aid, defend and protect people. This is why I got my degree in government and spent half my career inside government in service to that mission.
Campaign’s Top Priorities
Our Central Coast way of life is under constant pressure from Big Oil, rising housing costs, and those who would put profits over people. Click below to see how I'm fighting to protect our coastline, strengthen our economy, and keep SLO County a place we can all call home.
