Supervisor Bruce Gibson Endorses Dantona for Supervisor
Jim Dantona, Central Coast community leader and President and CEO of the San Luis Obispo Chamber of Commerce, today announced that outgoing Supervisor Bruce Gibson has endorsed Dantona for Supervisor. Dantona, like Gibson before him, started his Central Coast public service career on the Cayucos Advisory Council.
"Jim Dantona is a leader,” said Supervisor Gibson. “Jim is a really smart guy and he knows how government should work to provide the public safety, programs and services our county and its residents need.
"He’s the right person for the job because he will get stuff done and cut through the ideological noise. Commitment to getting results is the hallmark of the great county supervisors I’ve known over the years. Especially in these deeply troubling times – where chaos and cruelty rain down from a deranged presidency, when our democracy is under relentless attack – we’re lucky to have quality local citizens like Jim step up and defend our values."
"Supervisor Gibson has spent the last 20 years fighting on behalf of North Coast residents, and I am honored to have his support in this important race," said Dantona. "I believe we need somebody representing us who embodies the same Central Coast values as Supervisor Gibson. As our next Supervisor, I will continue the fight against threats coming from Big Oil and their allies in the White House. We cannot allow a Donald Trump acolyte to represent our community on the Board of Supervisors."
Gibson has represented San Luis Obispo County's Second District since 2007. The district includes Morro Bay, Cayucos, Cambria, Los Osos, San Simeon and a portion of the City of San Luis Obispo. Gibson recently announced he will step down from the District 2 supervisor seat at the end of his term on December 31, 2026.
